No deer hunters around, going to put dogs in the woods.

I see very few deer hunters anymore. Now I can chase grouse with my setter again.

The snow here will not stay long, and no, I don't mind hunting during deer season if there are not a lot of hunters in the woods. I don't think that hunters would shoot my dogs, just being courteous to deer hunters.

My Golden Retriever has to stay locked up, because my neighbor said if he ever sees him during deer hunting, he'll shoot him dead.

Yea, we have those type of neighbors around too. What I am more excited about is the freeze up when patches of cover that have not been touched all year are now easy to get to. I love to hunt the hazel thickets along creeks and beaver ponds this time of year. Walk the sedge edge, let the dog work the thickets. I was really hoping for a hard freeze up without snow, but I only get that ever 3 or 4 years. Birds die then.
