slug barrel for browning bps- help!

unfortunately I don't have access to private land up north to rifle hunt deer this year. Gained access to some private land kind of by the carlos avery WMA. Since it's slug only down here I need to get a barrel for my shotgun. I have a 12 ga. browning bps. The bps has the back-bore barrel on it, it isn't recommended to use this barrel for slugs. So which barrel should I get? I don't want to drop 300 bucks on a barrel I may not even get the opportunity to shoot! any tips or advice would be nice. thanks.

About 5 years ago I went through the same thing. I saw the $300 barrel choice and balked. I went and bought an H and R single shot (heavy barrel, laminated stock) with a scope for less than the cost of a Browning barrel. It is an extremely accurate gun.

My brother in law also has a BPS and thought about using it for slug hunting until he saw the slug barrel prices.

Instead, he found a decent used 20ga 870 and a slug barrel for cheaper than the cost of the BPS slug barrel. He loves how it shoots. (I am shooting the same basic setup) and his shoulder does thank him for not having to toss 12 ga. slugs at deer.
