worst feeling a hunter can have?

Recommended Posts

blood was bright red, found a couple small specks of flesh where i shot, no blood. found a decent splatter where he stopped and switched directions, after that the blood trail dwindled to less and less. not alot after the intial stop. he never bedded down and crossed through a large swamp(swamp grass)with standing water, also passed through alot of swampy tamarack area through a 30 ft or so woodline where i kicked up 2 does tracking him, and directly into this grassy field. as far as hair, not sure, think i found some clumps but if i remember correctly they were lighter(whitish)..thats why i am wondering maybe brisket area? would that explain why the hair clumps were found a little ways from where i shot him? when i shot he kicked his back legs and ran off, almost positive his tail was down.

i know within a few feet of where last blood was. he came into the field in the very corner and last blood was a few feet headed across (diagonally) to the other corner but dont know if he turned otherwise its straight towards a house. approx a 12 acre field. clump of trees in the very middle of field but i checked that twice.
