Will deer avoid site of recent kill?

Bear are you me, once again 3rd time today I'm with Bear and the rest really. I don't shoot enough deer from the same stand to know, 1 buck and I'm done and no one generally sits my stand after that not that I'd mind. My only concern might be if it attracts a pack of coyotes or a wolf to the area, then it may take a few days but that's a guess, no science behind it. I like Bear would think a mature buck might avoid it, but the rut, a hot doe etc. would trump it, but definitely you hear of multiple large bucks from the same stand near the gut piles, but for me if I gut one out it's the one I'm looking for. They may avoid your area some due to the scent people leave behind more so than the gut pile.

In the last 3 years, there have been 7 deer taken off my stand. All gutted on the spot and drug out. Have even shot deer while they were smelling/sniffing the gut pile of another deer.

Also, the gut pile is a good bait for drawing in some yotes for target practice! smile

Or maybe it was your presence they were sensing.

I really don't think they were sensing me. I was down wind and they were not even looking in my direction. They were looking at the dead doe. I have been winded by deer before and this was a different reaction.
