Anyone else hunt 184?

Recommended Posts

Haven't had a chance to make it up this year to scout and I was wondering what the word is on deer numbers this year. We hunt off 39 a ways outside of Blackduck.

Thanks

With the wind and rain today, anyone else glad today wasn't opening morning?

Well are you talking the same 39 that long lost lake is off of? That's not really near Blackduck but thats our family hunting shack area for many years...what side of highway and or trail you off of? 184 is wayyyy too big of an area. Personally I think they need to restructure and break down 184 its way too diverse for the way they manage it...had intensive due to all the agriculture area (Bagley, etc.) for way too long. We hunt the bigger woods and now its ALL lottery...We knew that going back 3 years ago it should have been less tags handed out. I'm not complaining about going to lotter because I know that we need the deer herd up where we are. I havent seen a live deer in our immediate hunting area there all fall, and thats been weekends from Aug to now....gonna be slim pickings this year!

Yep, I was referring to Scenic Hwy 39 between Blackduck and Cass Lake. I agree that 184 is way to big.

Red Cabin, we will be meeting at Hillcrest Supper Club for dinner Thurs., stop by for a beer if you are up. If I know my Uncle as good as I think I do he will get up there by 3 and be sitting at the bar playing pulltabs. 2 younger guys and a more distinguished older gentleman.
