Thermostat Question

Hey guys question for you. I just recently bought my first house and it has radiators with a boiler in the basement. Right now it has a cheaper thermostat I am wondering what you guys think would be the best for the hot water system. I have heard that the programmable ones are not the best for the hot water system becuase it uses much more gas. Let me know would like to buy a new one this weekend as the cold weather is coming!

Thanks

if you do get a programmable, make sure its designed for hot water. The problem with the regular programmables is they cycle on and off too often. It takes a while for the radiators to make a change in the temp and boilers tend to have higher swings in temp between cycles.

(I'm no expert, but that's the way I understand it, so take it with a grain of salt.) I do have a programmable in one of my commercial buildings with a boiler system, but a technician put it in, so I don't know much about it.
