I had heard good things about these units for their ability to keep the skeets away from both friends and from folks on the board. I had a little moola sitting around and decided to pick one up last week prior to heading out for a youth hunt in Wisc. With the unseasonably warm weather we have been experiencing, the skeets have been pretty fierce this fall. Walking into the stand we were swarmed by skeets and I was anticipating a fidgety and short sit while on stand with my daughter. I started the thermacell while at the base of our tree and carried it up onto the stand with me, where I placed it at our feet. Initially the bugs were unaffected by the unit but within 5-7 minutes we were experiencing a bug free zone and weren't bugged for the rest of the evening on stand. Saw 4 bucks and a doe and they didn't appear to be fazed by the earthscent repellent. Overal it is a great product and I'd recommend one for use when camping, fishing or hunting. I'd rate the unit 9/10 with the one ding against the unit is it makes a rather loud click when you ignite it initially but it definately does as advertised.

I agree. I start mine b-4 I get close to the area that I am going to hunt. One can get the holster for it and you can climb the tree with it on you while running.

I noticed in the store the other day that they also make a hot doe unit that one can put doe in heat on the pad. I think I may try it with one of my units to see how it works.

Kind of like a honey burn for deer.

Yep, they work! When Thermacells came out I was the biggest skeptic going. I waited till this summer to try one and was throughly impressed...

I have about 6 of them. One in the tackle box, one in a hunting bag, 2 in cars and 2 in the garage.
