GatorBait
Go Here to see a list of allowable bodies of water that you can troll. Trolling is defined to include backward and forward directed trolling. Forward trolling and back trolling is allowed on waters where motor trolling is currently authorized. I hope this helps you out with your question. If you referring to anything a bit more specific please follow up.
walleyehunter80
i just want to know why trolling is not allowed in wisconsin, i read and understand the regs, just cant figure out why there is such a stupid law???
GatorBait
Well, it's pretty simple. The DNR doesn't care either way, they are open to it. All they want is the daily bag and size limits followed, methods of catching are irrelevant. They've introduced this to the public hearings on several occassions where it isn't allowed yet and the ANGLERS have opposed it. This law dates back to 1923 where the state has helped it become legal in many, many areas throughout the state. So I hope that clears it up. Nick Kuhn
It was put in place a loooooonnnnngggg time ago because it was thought harvest and mortality of fish caught in that manner would be too high. It remains as a legacy law. The are still some who oppose removing the trolling laws because they don't want any boats coming near them... nolte
The main reason it's in there is because they didn't want guys to go out and troll for muskies. Row trolling was/is a honored tradition in some areas of WI and they wanted to hang on to that. The thought was that motors would take that away. It's really not an issue with the other game fish.
