Have fun getting rid of it. Try installing malware bytes in safe mode. Might be easier to get your data and reformat.

As long as his kills the process he should be able to remove it with malwarebytes. Gordie I sent you an email with instructions. Good luck. Make sure you follow them.

I have got rid of them but they are a pain. I 2nd Malwarebytes. Excellent app for removing that junk, if that don't do it you may as well backup the data and format and start over, it would probably be quicker.

Here is a good spot to put this thought in. Most these apps need admin or power user rights to install themselves. If you are a real heavy web user especially checking out free apps, you might do yourself a favor and creating a user with very restricted rights to do your basic day to day use and only log in with admin rights if you need to install an app or manage your pc in some fashion.

Never been a huge fan of Malwarebytes being the only thing done. The time it takes to run this program, you can do what upnorth said and recover back to factory settings. Then scan after with MWB or AVG's trial of their ultimate program for good measure if the data is reloaded. Once you wipe hdd and reinstall the OS, you can see how your computer used to work. grin If you just run MWB, you go through it and your just back to the way your PC was prior to the crud. Cool it is working again Gordie.

Shack we just put it in Safe Mode and went back 2 weeks and did a system restore and that helped. We then downloaded SuperAntiSpyware and ran a scan and that found a couple Trojans and a bunch of Ad-Ware junk. We also got rid of his outdated antivirus and put on some Avast antivirus that was up to date and scanned it again. I told Gordie if anything seems weird we would ran the Malwarebytes.

I keep forgetting about that restore to a previous date option. grin Good call to get him back in the saddle at least. Very easy and does not take much time at all. I just love a fresh puter though. grin Don't even mind going through the setup again. A feeling like a fresh, clean & brisk early Sunday morning stroll. Good work Jim. Gordie lay off the bad e-mail chains and adult sites. Well, at least get some protection that ain't been in the wallet since 79'. laugh
