Huskie
When I go to turn the key in the ignition on my crestliner, the ignition unit turns with the key, thus not starting the motor. I have removed it from the dash and can hold it and turn the key, starting the motor. Is there a pin that hold it in place to prevent that. Or do you just tighten the h@## out of it to the dash? fasternu
Should be a nut on the front, and another on the back. Sandwich them around the dash to hold it tight.
Huskie
I'm thinking there was only the one on the front, tightened that up but it wasn't enough, I'll take the plate off that the ignition is in and take a closer look, thanks. Valv
The hole on the dash is not completely round, same for your ignition switch, if the locking nut gets loose it will allow the switch to turn and damage the flat spot that holds it in position. You can tighten the heck out of the nut. A good adhesive also will help keep it in position. What brand motor and year ?
Huskie
02 merc, 125 2 stroke, 02 crestliner sportfish. What type of adhesive would you use Valv?
Valv
Can you send me a picture of the small panel where it's installed ? I have many Crestliner parts here and I can send a replacement.I would use a good epoxy, and do it from underneath, so it won't show in front. The plastic "nut" is not very strong and will strip easily if tighten too much.
