Difference between American Water Spaniel and Boykin

Many pictures look like the same breed. I've never seen information that stated how one is distinguished from the other. Water Spaniels were used to breed Boykin Spaniels. Some Boykins seem to have straighter coats, but not all of them. The tail is bobbed. Is the tail thicker? Are the legs and chest thicker on the Boykin? I am familiar with AWS, but not with Boykins (other than Earl, the basketball player).

Never mind...I found enough detailed pictures on "the net". Boykins seem to have straighter hair, and a more stocky/chesty build than AWS.

My understanding is that the AWS is a more "heartier" dog, for a Minnesotan meaning that it has the double coat and lab-like retrieving instincts and build. You'll see a lot of Boykins down south but more AWS's up here.
