Fishing the river in high water conditions

This has been a really bad bass fishing season for me as I just have not found enough time to get out on the water! I finally carved out a half day this week and am trying to figure out if the high water conditions on the Croix should keep me off.... Would you guys focus on a lake this week instead of the river? It's tough because I know the river smallies should be turning on soon...

Hope everyone else got out more than me this summer!

High water doesn't concern me as much as if its muddied up. If it's high and moving and not muddy (unlikely), you should be ok. The faster water should position the fish better.

Good point ... I'll have to see how muddy it is out there. I think the high water no wake will be in effect as well, so that might make it a long process to get to my spots!

wow, just talked to Beanies on the St. Croix.... they are clearing out their bait shop planning for it to flood by the weekend!!!
