Selmer
Tyler, yes and no. I have in the past loaded up my own steel shot rounds. I reload everything else I shoot with the exception of .22 rimfire ammo. Loading steel is a different ball game than loading lead shot, less "flexibility" for lack of a better term in loading. When I started doing research on loading my own about 15 years ago, powder charges thrown by bushings were inconsistent enough to warrant weighing each charge, or at the very least having a good powder measure and setting it up properly, then throwing the charges. Sure, you can make them "pack a little more punch" if you want to risk blowing your face off. The point of reloading ammunition is NOT to make them pack a little more punch, it's to potentially save a little money and take part in an enjoyable hobby. If you choose to start doing it, please research and read carefully, and follow the guidelines/recommendations. If you're talking about loading your own bismuth rounds, that's a different story, it's a more forgiving shot material, similar to lead but more brittle. Most lead formulae can be used with bismuth. Have fun and stay safe!
