Topwaters in fall?

This is my first fall in MN where I'll have a few opportunities to get out on the water.

I want to have my list of "go-to" lures for my next outing, and basically just wanted to know if it's worth spending serious time chucking spooks and other topwaters, or if I should just focus on a low strike zone.

While pike will certainly hit topwaters, I have always had much better luck with baits that are erratic and move just under the surface. For a while though bass action and muskie action will be decent on topwaters though.

Definitely a multi-species option, okay for pike but not to focus on pike. I still do it, catch lots of big bass and an occasional pike...good fun.

Me too. WTD topwaters during low light have been great for me, plus it can be real intense. Pretty good rush when a big pike launches itself completely out of the water going after it. Don't see any reason not to give topwaters a little time if you're in relatively shallow water.

It's tough to beat a Jackpot for pike. I remember one trip to Canada where the pike were smacking it around like seals do a beachball at the zoo.

If I'm throwing topwater it's going to be a spook or any walk the dog bait. Buzzbaits are hot too but I feel I do better in the early summer than the fall.
