CRAZYEYES
I have a 94 mariner magnum inline 4 cylinder that wont idle very well. I went camping about 3 weeks ago and brought 6 tanks of gas and realized that one of our old OMC metal cans that had not been used in a while was full of rust!!! Too late, the motor runs plugged up after that, Starts hard and wont stay idleing. I just bought this engine this year and have run about 400 gallons through it. Would some seafoam help me or am I going to need a new fuel filter and also is there maybe just a screen/filter coming out of the hose that could be plugged. I really dont know the engine that well cause i just put it on this year and want it to get me through the weekend then I'll drag it to the marina and have them look it over before winter. hydro
Check the tank for a screen on the pickup, if there it is likely plugged, but may have prevented gink fro going to the motor. The motor has a filter that you can try to clean out. Last, take it in this winter and have the filter, fuel pump, and carbs gone through. Get rid of that tank. boatfixer
Im betting on a complete cleaning of the entire fuel system and replacing the filter. I wouldnt waste a penny on sea foam at this point.
CRAZYEYES
Kind of what I was expecting. Thanks for the input!
