MW AL
wheelerboy. You have midwest rod and reel in prior lake if that's any closer for you
motley man
Buy the eyes and put them on yourself. Not hard to do and you can seal them with clear finger nail polish. I just use regular sewing thread and have never had a problem.
upnorth
I really wouldn't recommend sewing thread and finger nail polish to replace guides on a rod, especially a higher end rod. Nylon or polyester thread will be much stronger than sewing thread and finger nail polish will not stand up to the abuse that thread epoxy will. jentz
I've used them all learning. The sewing thread works fine,The idea of nail polish was I thought a good choice,I was dissapointed!! Every rod I did within a few years the polish peeled off.
pureinsanity
Bring it to midwest rod and reel in prior lake. Id offer to do it for you but I am not skilled enough. here is there info. Keep in mind they can meet you at different times if non of their hours work out with your schedule. Just give them a call and set something up.[Note from admin: Your post has been edited. upnorth
Will sewing thread work, yeah it may. But it is not as strong as nylon or polyester. Also take a really close look at sewing thread compare to the other two and you will see a few things. 1 it tends to be lumpy and also more fuzzy than than nylon and or polyester. If you don't care about lumps or fuzz then it won't be a problem, but if you do, it will make your wraps look pretty bad.
pureinsanity
as long as we are on the polyester thread talk. I was in a quilt shop this weekend. they have some neat threads. think theyd work? 100% poly. Couldnt tell if they had wax on them or not. upnorth
Hard to say. I know Mettler works cuz I use that, I also use color preserver. Madiera(sp) is supposed to work well to. I wouldn't try any polyester without CP. And CP will pretty much negate the wax and silicone issues.
