Lowering raised deck post.

I have a deck that I am rejuvenating, and in one corner of my deck, the post is raised about 1". It is a 6x6 treated post. How can I lower it so that the deck will be level again? What would you guys do?

Did frost lift it? Got a picture.

How you lower it depends on how the deck was built. Could be as easy as removing a deck broad above the 6x6, putting a block on top and slamming it back down with a sledge hammer.

Since you have 6x6 I'll assume you either have a lot of weight or height and the 6x6 is sandwiched by a girder. If the 6x6 is notched then make a cross cut and remove the waste with a chisel.

I'd make a temp T post and attach that to the 6x6 with the top at the correct height. Put a strap around the girder to keep it from spreading apart when you remove the carriage bolts just loose enough that it will slide down the 6x6 and lay on top the T post. You may need a jack to relieve the weight on those bolts and to safely lower the deck. That jack depending on height will need to be secured to the 6x6 so it won't kick out.
