delmuts
A freinds 40 hp., two cyl. Johnson;that he can only get about half throttle RPM's out of.( note! this is an older motor and i don't know how old) This boat has ben used and not taken care of. We put new plugs in it, and changed the fuel filter. Nothing improved. I'm thinking it's time to have the carb/carbs cleaned and rebuilt. Engine runs fine, and idles smoothly. Sound right to you? boatfixer
I would do a compression test and verify that there is spark on both cylinders before proceding.

Same thoughts...... but I don't know which one of us is the better looking
boatfixer
If that fish you're holding in your avatar was a little higher....... We just think alike. Gotta get the vitals before proceeding. Its an old school thing.
