I bought a 14 ft Northwoods in Wisconsin and registered it here no problem. I brought in the signed registration card, paid my fee and that was it. No trailer - can't help there.

Just got my out of state purchased boat registered last week. Be sure you have the title, for the trailer and the boat. Some states also issue titles for the motor too, be sure to bring all of that in. They will take it and will process it and issue you a new MN title. but there is no delay in registering the boat.

The trailer is done by the DMV (you will pay taxes), and the boat by the DNR. Be sure your paperwork is separated enough so it can be processed. Pretty much the same as an in state, be sure you have all the paperwork and you can show clear ownership of the boat.

i just did it with a wisconsin boat two weeks ago. it went fairly smoothly except the mn title didnt get the lien holders info on it. (dealers fault). and the lady at the dmv didnt know enough to get the trailer registered. i went to a different dmv and had it all done in 15 minutes. if the gross weight is under 3000 and there is no lien on the trailer there wont be a title. i have a title because i have a loan for the boat and trailer. like stated above they will collect the difference in taxes. all said and done. it was fairly easy just have every bit of documentation there is.
