Finlander
Just picked up a 6hp Johnson 70's model and it has an 8 foot long gas line. It doesn't want to stay running after starting. Seems to run out of gas as I go. I keep squeezing the bulb but that only works sometimes. I shouldn't have to do that. Any suggestions? Colt_45
I just did my float and float pin in my '69 9.5 hp, the pin swelled from maybe new gas and being dry for so long.It would run ok at less than half throttle then would die out cause the float wouldn't adjust cause it was so stiff because of the pin swelling. Works perfect now. was like 25 bucks for a rebuild kit for mine.
boatfixer
SparkFuel CompressionI would also check the filter in the fuel pump. Do you have another line and bulb you could try? You may end up rebuilding the carb and fuel pump after the process of elimination. Hoses, connections, fittings, etc..
candiru
Check the gas tank for water.Make sure the tank is vented, or has pressure in it if it is metal. Make sure the fuel line is hooked up in the right direction.
