Crossbows now legal in MI

Recommended Posts

So what does everybody think? I for one am against it, we have a very poor heard in MI to start with and now all those bucks that didn't come into range will be smoked with a x-bow. But I guess it is the law so I cant say much about it.

In all reality unless someone is dropping 1600 dollars on a crossbow, and buying one that has a longer power stroke and can shoot 22inch bolts, they won't be very accurate past 40 yds, those tiny, heavy little crossbow bolts tend to drop extremely quick after that. From what I've seen selling a few here in Minnesota to disabled people most want to spend 3-5 hundred dollars on there crossbows. They won't be shooting consistent groups very far, and the bow will be loud as all @#$@. In all reality they aren't much more accurate than someone who practices with a compound. They are however easier to get accurate with quickly. So what that means is you'll be getting a lot more hunters since they won't have to put the time in to be become proficient. In a way thats a good thing for the sport, more hunters means better funding i.e., but if you're a hunter who's already fighting for land....thats a bad thing. I know up here in Minnesota we have some good arguments over it. As far as I can see it's only a matter of time before they're legal everywhere. Just my two cents though,

Nick
