From my turkey blind.

Recommended Posts

playin with the hummer feeder, I set up my turkey blind and got a few shots. just a point and shoot so had to use the flash but still a fun time. the hummers sound like giant squitos, lol plus we have 4 young orioles, it gets to be a battle for lunch.

Nice series!

I have a question. I see that in the flying hummingbird shots shutter speeds were 1/500 and 1/400. That seemed to me, to be slow for such clearly captured wings.

The question is does the flash "freeze" the wings or is just shutter speed?

Thank you, gosh I'm not sure. I have a powershot SX20IS not an SLR. the lowest the f stop will go is 5 and the shutter maxes at 1/500th when I use manual setting and 400 ISO. I might try 200 today. I'm thinkin the flash must be going right with the shutter speed. I'm trying to get good wings but hard with this camera. The big ? I have is why is it if I do a movie of the birds it's just like on a TV set with this camera. Clear as can be. But I can't get that with a pic.
