When to pick Watermelon. First time grower!

Ok, I have planted some Sugar Bush watermelons and they are lookin ready to pick. I have read all the opinions on the internet and now I need yours. What tips does everyone on have on how to tell when ripe? I waited until the tendril was brown and one was great and one was underripe. Thanks in advance!

Along with the brown stem, wait until the part of the melon touching the ground turns yellow and you get a hollow sound when you rap the melon with your knuckles. You can learn the sound by knuckling watermelons in the store.

Good topic, I have had the same question. To expand on it if I may. Would a large melon rippen faster if it were picked or left on the vine?

Melons will not ripen anymore once picked off the vine.
