Tempered spinner shafts

Recommended Posts

Anyone know where to get them? Just straight, unlooped shafts would be preferred. If I got it right the tempered are the more greyish colored shafts such as the ones Mepps uses vs the softer, shinier shafts.

If the description of it says 'piano wire' or 'spring steel' it should be tempered. Tempering is used to take the spring out of the steel, if it weren't tempered it would stay curved and you wouldn't be able to straighten it. Color really has nothing to do with it. Don't know where to find what your looking for, but hopefully this helped.

I believe I'd seen coils of the stuff sold by the pound, but can't remember where it was. Maybe try the big E auction site.

Not sure what you're using them for, but I get straight wire shafts for musky bucktails in .051 and .062 from lure parts online. I just had a 40" musky whack a double 10 I made and it bent the shaft pretty good. They're cheap enough that I just cut it apart on the water and place all the componants on a new shaft and it's all good again! Hope this helps!
