EBass
Hello FM members. EBass just got a 14' Lowe with 25H Merc. It has a Minnkota 40lb bow mount and I was wondering how much and what type of transducer do I need, and what kinda of power supply should I use? Like my little battery that came with the FL-18 or run it off the trolling motor battery? Any suggestions out there? I'm all ears and smiles now that I'm not stranded on shore Thanks,EBass [This message has been edited by EBass (edited 06-26-2003).]
Grabs
I run mine off the small batteries that came with it. We bought the 12 degree kit from Vex and the Pro mount,..all in all a $99 add on. I would recommend using the original batteries as long as you have storage right in the bow they can just rest up there.
Tonka Boy
Congrats Ebass! Now I understand why I can't get a reply back from you.Grabs hit the nail on the head. Go buy the kit, which runs about $70, and you're set. I just use my small battey also. Save the trolling motor battery for when you need it...although the Vex. doesn't draw too much juice. So when are we going fishing???------------------Tonka Boy
EBass
Cool, thanks for the tips. I can't wait till I get my electronics on it. I'll have my fl-18 on front and some type of graph on the back. I want to quick glance to see the depth on the move. However, I have that bottom lock feature, hmm, eh I still like the flasher on front. Tonka Boy, soon my friend soon. I still need to register it and all that jazz.(I'll do that this Sat)Minnetonka will be a good test on how she handles the BIG waves. Can't wait to hit the rivers though. I don't know if a 40lbs thrust will be good enough. So I need the kit, a new trolling motor battery and a charger then I'm set(for now). It has a crappy Hummingbird flasher on it. I think I will give that away after I get my graph. Thanks fellas
Mr. Pike1
Ebass, congrats on making the transformation from a shore dweller to the water. We have all been there. I remember years back when me and Mykal from the site hit the shores of the mississippi every chance we could and borrowed and rented boats to get the joy of being on the water. Welcome former land dweller to the vast open waters of Minnesota....
EBass
Thanks Mr. Pike 1! I have all next week off, so I'm going to put some hours on her. Hey Tonka Boy. I think I'm going to change my mind and use my flasher on the stern. Ugh. The crazy rig up it has now is the ducer (hummingbird) on the stern yet the display is mounted in on bow. Oh, well, I have some work to do. But it's for a good cause.
Tonka Boy
If you get sick of working on it and want to take a break, give me a ring. My rig is always ready!
