jeff127
A buddy and I just got drawn for whitetail in 49A and was just wondering if anyone has an idea of deer numbers in that zone(west meade county)and what the ratio of mulie to whitetail is that we may run into. first time deer hunting SD and am trying to get as prepared as possible.thanksjeff
sdpikehntr
I hunt mainly in Pennington County southwest of Rapid City, but mead county is going to be strong on the muley numbers, but there wil be some nice muleys in there. The whitetails will be in and around any fields and the low ground draws, but will be fewer numbers. Good luck and watch out for the cactus, and sight in for at least 300yds and if you are comfortable even go to 400yds. It will be a fun hunt. jeff127
thanks spikehntr, I appreciate the info----I(we) will definately be prepared for long range shooting. Cactus is one thing I have not had to worry about while deer hunting in mn and north east ND. I am looking forward to new scenery and a different type of hunt.jeff
