Been along time since I have been able to get around to checking the site out! Been really busy guiding, doing some TV filming, making tackle, working, and just about everything else you can imagine. LOL

I will try and get back into the daily grind of checking on the forums.

Fishing is starting to slow down for me right now! Working on getting some tackle orders finished and then back to guiding in about a month. Don't have any really exciting pics to share but we managed to catch more than our fare share of fish in the last month!

Six to eight of us are planning a trip the week of Sept 13. We have two boats and are planning to tent camp for about four days.

Curious where you guys would go?

Will be fishing for anything that bites, although shore lunching some walleye would be nice. preferably no more than six hours from Lincoln.

I was thinking about the refuge lakes but I am being told I wouldn't be able to get my reata in the lakes? never been there.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

6 hours from Lincoln? My choice would be Merritt, plus that puts you in short range to the refuge. I have personally never fished the refuge lakes, so I can't precisely estimate if they would take your boat or not. If the weather cools a bit, Merritt should be good to go that time of year plus the state campgrounds are pretty nice. You can beach your boat on some pretty nice sand. Good luck and post your results.

I know it becomes a trolling bite during the hot days, like every lake in the state, but I think you can still find walleyes in and around the dam. Check in at the Merritt Trading Post. They are generally pretty helpful in putting you on fish. Hopefully we are in a cool down pattern and you can get on some shallower fish. You will love the lake regardless, it is very scenic and has some good looking fishing spots.
