we have a cabin on the deer lake just north of cohasset beside moose lake. super clear water makes walleye fishing during the day a challenge but both small and large mouth bass are pretty plentiful with nice sized smallies being pretty common. walleye can be pretty good if you are willing to fish the evenings and at night. water clarity makes them pretty tough to consistently hook into during the day, for me anyways. supposedly the musky fishing is average to above average but that's not my thing so can't really comment on that.

the water level at the boat landing is pretty shallow with few prop busting boulders so take your time heading out on the lake. couple easy spots to try for smallies and evening walleyes would be the windward side of bear island and battleship island along the 10 to 12 foot break line. both cranks and lindey rigs have been working. i have had more success with duller colors such as black, copper and flat white for jigs. there is also a couple of nice sunken islands with good shelfs just to the east of bear island that can be productive jigging spots.
