Boats on Poinsett?

We have camping reservations for Poinsett July 31st weekend. I was told they are not allowing boats on the lake due to the waves damaging the homes. Is this true?

Last I heard its a no wake zone 300' from shore. Those folks have a nasty mess up there.

No wake 300' from shore. Kind of ironic all the Sioux Falls people were wining a couple years ago about diverting water from the Big Sioux to fill up the lake and now look. I feel for them but that is what happens when you build in areas that are unsuitable. Hopefully the water goes down before freeze-up or they are out of luck.

i grew up on that lake and sure do miss it. last memory was the state taking all the carp out of the lake and burying them at the state park on the south side. we had a cabin on the road to the park and can remember and have pictures of semi's heaping with carp. kind of miss those days.
