making my lcx-27 work

so i bought a new boat that came with a motorguide on the front, my old on had a maxxum, and i strapped my ducer for the lcx to it and it only gives me a bottom signal about 10% of the time. when i do get bottom signal it is very very weak. i have messed with ping speed and sensivity and those things dont seem to help. i am running the stock ducer for the rear of the boat in the modified mount you can buy any where. the puzzling thing for me is that it worked on the minn kota but wont on the guide. any ideas? Maybe picking up interference from the motor? Try sticking a piece of rubber between the transducer and the motor. Or just something quick to see, wrap a bunch of electrical tape around the motor (where you mount your transducer) and mount the transducer over that. See if it helps.

Pick up a "Rig Rite" Transducer mount. The only true way to break the electronic field effect from the trolling motor is add space between the motor causing the interference and the transducer. They run $14 and can be used on any model hi-speed and puck style ducer. If the problem is interference, that will do it.
