Nick Kuhn
You guys are drowning everyone in details. The 24V system will last longer. That's the bottom line and all they need to know. Those who need to know more can go to the University of Minnesota bookstore and buy Ned Mohan's electric drives book.
BobT
The bottom line of my discussion has not changed and has been related to two incorrect assumptions.1. A 24v motor (regardless of power rating) will run longer than a 12v simply because the 24v motor is running on higher voltage. This statement is not true.2. Increasing voltage to a motor will decrease amp draw. This statement is not true.
Fish Head
You gotta love these guys, you ask which trolling motor is best and you get a course in electrical engineering! You said it! I don't know an amp from a volt, but I would definitely get the largest pound thrust you can afford. No one wishes he had less power, but almost everyone wishes he had more. Be sure to get a 60" shaft too.
BobT
That's probably the best comment in this entire thread.
