OIL Pressure gauge on 03 Silverado 5.3l

Recommended Posts

So the oil pressure gauge will sometimes be at Zero or 80 the truck is running fine the oil is filled properly. I am guessing that the sensor is failing. For the life of me I have gone through the book and can not find anything about a oil pressure sensor. Is it part of the dash cluster on this truck? Odds are I have read it and missed it but I have looked a couple times any help is appreciated

The oil pressure sensor should be somewhere on the block, at least it was on my Dodge. Mine failed and was doing the same exact thing, even though a pressure test on the system showed adequate oil pressure.

The oil sensor screw into the block behind the intake on the drivers side on top. On an 03 the sensor tells the pcm what the pressure is, then the pcm tells the instrument cluster what to set the gauge at.
