best way to clean up classic rims?

Recommended Posts

We are picking up some classic honeycomb or snowflake rims for my wife's trans am.

They are in decent shape but want to clean them up. I don;t want to spend the money right now to totally refibish them.

What product should i use and how should get get them looking as good as they can?

thanks

Any acid based alum. rim cleaner should clean them up the best. Products like Eagle One are good ones to look at. Just make sure you do not let this stuff sit long on the rim (look at the directions) and use in a properly vented area. The fumes will drop ya. grin

If they have a clear coat that has leeched brake dust and grim under it, then either refurbish or break out the rotozip, mothers & buffing wheel.

For some really heavy corroded areas on alumn, I have had luck using Naveljelly and a Scotch Brite pad.
