#Boater#
I'm sure there are some great shore lunch stories as wall. I was about 12 years old up in Canada with my Dad and Uncle. We were fishing walleye's of course and had to travel quite a distance up a river to another lake. Along the river was an island along the way with a campground what you would find in the BWCA. On the way back we stopped at the island for shore lunch. While my Dad and Uncle were preparing lunch I decided to go find a place to call nature #2. Wouldn't you know there was a toilet made out of logs and plywood about 50 feet into the woods. So a decide to put the old beast to use. I pull down my pants and begin to relieve a well needed "DUMP". I soon notice a couple of hornets buzzin. Yep, thats right, a hornets nest under one of the logs. So scooped up a trouser full of stingers and take off runnin back to camp. I wanted to jump in the river but I had boots on and it was moving quite fast. After about 15 stings it had all stopped. And yes one on the ol "sack". Luckily i'm not allergic to them but it was still quite painful. Please contribute your "shore lunch" stories. Jim W
OUCH!I had to drive 15-20 minutes back(one way) to the outpost cabin once, just for my favorite cajun seasoning! AFter the fire and potatoes were already cookin up. Definitely not as potent as your story, but it proves how important my favorite seasoning is to me!(by the way, if you haven't tried it, "Tony Chachere's Cajun Seasoning"!!!!) uffdapete
A few years ago, while canoeing down the Root with my son, we stopped for lunch on an island. Unknown to me a yellow jacket was attracted to the mayonaisse on my sandwich and I took a bite and the bee didn't appreciate his new environment and stung me right on the tip of my tongue. It swelled up for about the next 6 hours. I was concerned for awhile about constriction of the airway - not a good deal when you're not near help.
