1998 Dodge Ram 1500 Battery gauge pegged.

Recommended Posts

Any thoughts on what may be going on with a battery gauge on my buddies 1998 Dodge Ram 1500. I am trying to get him to check for any codes.

I was driving down the freeway with the dodge the other day and the check gauges light came on. I looked and the batter gauge was pegged as high as it goes. I turned on my lights, AC and everything I could after about a minute it returned to normal. Hasn't done it since.

Without checking actual voltage while it was doing it than there really is no way to know for sure what was going on. Typically if the alternator was putting out the higher voltage than you would notice all the lights getting brighter and the blower motor turning a little faster.
