3rd stranded boat so far this year

Since Memorial Day I've helped 3 boats that have been dead in the water. That has to be some kind of record. I'm not a guide, I have a wife and 2 kids and only get on the water about 3-4 times a month but for some reason I keep coming across these guys. smile

1st one, a mom and 3 teenage kids on the Croix, they flagged me down, the boat wouldn't come out of neutural, I was able to tap on the back side of the throttle and get the neutural button to free up. They were very appreciative and made me give them my address, later sent me a thank you card.

2nd one, 3 old timers on leech in an old boat, flagged me down as I had a 24" walleye on and was reeling it in. The guy thought he needed a jump, after trying and it not working I asked to let me take a look, when I opened the cabniet I couldn't even see battery becuase all his wiring was such a mess, he didn't even have the jumper cables hooked up to the battery, just latched on to terminals. I wasn't happy that my boat was now wired into this mess. I tested his battery and it's was full, I told him it wasn't a jump that he needed and I probably couldn't help him. "oh, I guess I could just pull start it" he says, uhhh you had a pull start this whole time. 5 minutes later he has it running and takes off, doesn't swing by to say thank you.

3rd time happened yesterday, 6 teenage kids in a $40k 200 hp Crestliner no adults, the kind of boat that holds you up at the launch and buzzes you while you're fishing. After using up BOTH sides of the launch for about 5 minutes they roll the boat off the trailer and can't get it started, so I motored over to them and asked if I could take a look, one of the first things I checked was the battery conection and the wing nut was loose, tightened it reached over and started the motor. They all cheered and thanked me.

I'm going fishing in about an hour and I'm thinking all this positive Karma I have going is going to pay off in spades. wink

I seem to find myself towing in a boat or two every year, but that's probably because I am on the lake alot. The one thing I have notice about the boats I tow in. None of them have a Honda on the back.
