I just got a "used" laptop from a neighbor to use on our vacation next week. My question is, what item/applicaiton/accessory would I need to be able to use the internet at a wi/fi place? Its a Gateway if that helps. I'm guessing it's about 4 years old.

That, and usually there is a button that turns your wifi connection on/off of the pc. It's usually on the side or front of it. If it's hardlined to the net with an ethernet it'll be turned off so, just something to check for.
