Big Cobb south of Mankato

So who's been floating this lately??

... I haven't been on there since the flooding this spring when water temps were in the 40's. Think i'll give it a shot again saturday tho- Rapids should be back up to a strong Class 3 to mild Class 4! Going to try and hang onto my canoe this weekend! Have some buddies who went down wednesday and flipped...amateurs, but i'm betting it will be nearing flood stage soon.

Class 3-4....probably not, 1-2 at the most even when it was around 9-10 feet, although all people really have different points on what makes what class. If you have ever done anything truely whitewater, I am guessing you would see the difference. Don't get me wrong, very dangerous river for this area. Good times for sure.

Very true smeese. The way I understand rapids is that a Class 4 is just about impossible with a regular open canoe...I'm excellant in my canoe...but just about lost her this spring during high water. Thats why i figured them to be a strong class 3...might be way off. Fun for sure!

It's about time to open up and do the spring flood run again! My buddy is convinced we'll be floating the river this weekend...I'll have to check the height before i go down in a canoe, but they show up in yaks with dry suits.

Any others looking forward to the Big Cobb rapids this spring?
