I cleaned a 4 lber last weekend from a lake in south central mn and it still had eggs in it. Was out again today and threwq others back and they seemed fat like they had eggs also. And ideas on whats going on.

Cleaned some crappies here too, and had some eggs in it. At least, the yellow sac was there, (which I assume to be the eggs?). Maybe the eggs are gone, but the organ is still present? I would have thought the crappies would have spawned already, being water temps have been mid 60 to low 70s the past few weeks.

these fish are pobably on there second spawn...you know how you see geese and ducks with a two clutches of chicks...some older than others, while some may be orphaned most are from haing two hatches. fish do the same thing, they spawn earlier than most than recoupe and if enough time and condtions still willing they will lay more eggs to advance the species
