95 Ford Taurus 3.0 air flow stuck on defrost???????

I am goin to look at this for a freind. I thought sometimes if these go bad it can go to defrost mode...Not sure if this is a vac. opperated system or electric...

Any ideas where to start on this would be great ...Thank you!

Well if it is a vacuum operater system, I would be checking the vacuum supply (black line) to the control head, I have seen many lines break, along with a few vacuum canisters on these leak. Take a vacuum pump and check for leaks.

Sounds like it is to me as well. The vacuum systems would default to defrost as a safety backup so at least the windshield would be kept clear if there was a vacuum failure. The line in the engine compartment that goes through the firewall and supplies the vacuum to the control head would be the first place or thing I would check.
