Motor Electric Trim?

Cross

Question

I have a 1991 Mariner 100hP. Motor trim is very slow in certain position of travel then speeds up, it has been doing this since last year and finally this past weekend it completely went out where all you could hear was the relay clicking. Had to turn relief screw to move motor up manually. I know under normal operation there is a slower portion of travel until motor reaches a certain point then speeds up the higher it gets. Motor issue? Can battery have enough power for starting but not enough to operate trim?

The starter is drawing more amps then the trim motor.

Check your connections from rely to trim motor. A bad connections will make heat.

Look for discoloration.

Your other post asked about replacing a trim motor.

You could always jump to the trim motor to verify that there is nothing between the switch and motor.

Took apart the motor and found it was a little wet inside, the brushed were sticking and it needed a little cleaning on the armature. Works great for now. The bad news is when I finally got it to work and went to work the trim downward a seal blew just down from the fill port. Don't know what happened there.
