MHWANNABE
I'm new to this forum and relatively new to the great sport of Muskie fishing. I'm curious to gather any thoughts on which lake to fish on opener or early in season for that matter. White Bear, Bald Eagle or Forest. Look forward to having a pic of a nice fish next to my name in the near future. Thanks for any thoughts/opinions to my post. Good luck to all. HugoBox
Any of the three lakes you mentioned are good options. I would also assume all three will be pretty busy on Saturday. They're also all fun as they have their own characteristics. I know the least about Forest but I've NEVER been there and not at least had a chance at fish. White Bear is nice and clear but the water levels have made the access a bit of a PITA cause everyone now uses the county ramp. Bald Eagle is known to get pretty green so watching for follows is sometimes like night fishing - but heck they still gotta eat. Most of the fish I've seen this year when chasing panfish or walleyes have been deeper than I'd expect to see them this time of the year. That said, I always suck on the 'ski opener so don't put too much stock in anything I just said.
bmp78
I have had some decent luck on Forest. Blades were working best for me. Hopefully some others will be able to give some better info.
the man
On opening day I will be on WBL and later maybe on sunday or saturday night if I have no action on white bear I will try bald eagle or forest lake.
