Chevy 01 venture

Recommended Posts

I have an 01' chevy venture, problem is the wipers will not stay down after they cycle. Had them put back in place once, wife was proud of me! When she came home the next day they were stuck up again. My auto parts store has never heard of this problem and they bug the hell out of me when we go somewhere. Can someone help me please.

chevy had issues with the computer part in the wiper motor. it is located on the drivers side firewall. remove the 3-4 screws and plastic cover. the circuit board just pulls out, you can replace it for only a few bucks. one other thing is to unplug the wiper switch with the ignition switch on and see if the wipers go to the park mode if they do replace the switch. you could do the switch first however my experience has mostly been the circuit board. good luck

While the pulse board in the wiper motors are a common problem, and easily fixable with a soldering iron(haven't replaced one yet) This sounds more like a sticky cam. It's located on the motor shaft and the wiper linkage connects to it. It's oblong shaped and has a spring around it, a plastic snap on/off cover is over it. This mechanism is what "parks" the wipers in the down position after the wipers are turned off and the motor turns in reverse to pull the wipers down.

The white grease on it hardens over time. Have someone turn the wipers on and off while you carefully brakeclean it then relube. Keep you fingers in a safe place. This wiper system with exposed linkage is kinda dangerous.

This ailment can happen to other GM vehicles too.
