Editing software for HD vid and Mac

Recommended Posts

Hey all:

We've just picked up an excellent Canon Vixia HF S200 and will be adding HD video to our wedding photography offerings by fall. Of course there are a few bugs to work out. One is which editing software to get.

At the moment, our IMovie on our Macs won't read the MTS file that shows up when the vid files are uploaded. We think IMovie will provide the muscle we need (which really isn't much since we're not at this time planning on offering fully edited wedding vids). But we do need something, apparently, to convert the MTS file to something IMovie can read.

We also do have a PC laptop, so PC is one option, but we really hate PC and would prefer to work on the Macs.

I know this is a no-brainer for you vidheads, so help us out. Thanks! smilesmile

I have the same Canon, the wife and I bought it as a family present for Christmas.

If you do some searching on the G00gle, type in "convert MTS to **** for MAC" and you should come up with some solutions.

I prefer download dot com, which is part of CNET dot com as most of their stuff has been tested virus free, plus it lists the number of downloads, so you can get a feel if alot of people like it or not.

Also, if you haven't messed around with it much yet, the program I use for PC, everytime you pause the camera, it creates another file.

Good for editing, not so much for having 100's of files when your kids are using the camera.

1 second of black here, 2 seconds of a VERY big eye there....

Just a heads up. laugh
