Early MN Opener

Wasn’t there some talk to have MN fishing opener the week before Mothers Day? What ever happened?

Weird. One would think it would give them an extra week of revenue.

The resort we stayed at up on Vermillion was prettty empty. We were 1 of 2 groups out of about 20 Cabins to rent!! I don't think opener is that important for them in my opinion. Most guys just pitch in on a hotel room and fish all day so they don't need such a fancy set up. Just my .02 Worth

Some years there is still ice on the lakes up north. If your a resort owner and there is ice on the lake for opener you lost out on the big event. Yes businesses would lose out, but so will you if you cancel your reservations.

Then there are areas with spawning eyes that are closed as it is now, we'd have more areas that would be closed.
