24 Volt, Minn-Kota PD, AP with Co-Pilot / Not responding

LooseMoose

Question

My trolling motor has started to (intermediately) not respond to the remotes. I have new batteries in all my remotes and the deep cycle batteries show a full charge. It seems to happen after using it for a couple hours. Last night I pulled off all the covers and found no lose wires/connections.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas what could cause this?

Thanks for any help!

Try cleaning the battery connection tabs on the remote once. They may have some oxides on them that could be loosing some voltage to the remote?

A clean pencil eraser works well to remove oxides on electronics pins and tabs.

If you notice any sign of moisture inside the remote, leave it open in the sun for a while so it can evaporate out, could be moisture too?

Ed and Frank, thanks for the quick replies!

I will check out those suggestions tonight. I’ve noticed that my Auto Pilot on/off button has cracked and could be allowing water to get inside. But since the AP is working fine, even when the remotes are not, that may not have anything to do with the problem? Also, since all the remotes (3) are acting the same, it would seem improbable that moisture is getting in all of them? None the less i will clean the connections on them.

Thanks again,
