Seems I have a abnormal amount of static in my radio. I have a lame antenna for the radio. Its one of those wire type and it works so much better if I hold it between my fingers for sound.

I have it hooked up to a seperate battery.

Will a solid mount antenna fix my problems?

Tom,

IF I were you I would replace it with an amplified antenna, I had the cheep whip antenna on the old boat and got really poor reception on the new boat I have one of the amplified antenna's and it works much better.

I have googled them and they run about 50.00 or so bucks.
