Improvising for missing clip on Emer Stop Switch

I somehow lost the clip for the emergency stop switch on my 40 hp Evinrude. Assuming it's not in the shop vac...has anyone ever improvised and found something that holds the outer portion of the button back on the switch?? I was thinking about wrapping a rubber band around in there or maybe ... I don't know. *sigh*

Cabela's has a ring with all different kill switch clips that you can buy.

Check under boat accessories.

FF, GM, and even a few mall warts have those universal kill switch things too.

Just don't rig it so it runs without. That thing is there for a good reason.

Kid down the street when I was growing up watched his brother and dad get chopped up over and over and over. can't even imagine how terrible that must have been.
