MN Mike
Looking over the boat last weekend, I noticed some pitting in the aluminum below the water line ( early '90s Lund ) but pretty much isolated to areas in the back of the hull where some seams come together and areas near some stainless steel bolt heads. The boat sits in the water all summer on Lake of the Woods. I haven't really paid attention to it before so I don't know if this could have happened before I bought it.Wondering if there is anything to be concerned about? Looks to be about 3 zinc parts on the boat and they look pretty good, I do see the hull plate mounted on the bottom has some pretty rusty wires on the inside, maybe I need to clean them up if possible.Should a person consider adding another annode and see what happens?ThanksMike
jjz
Wouldnt hurt. Could also be some stray voltage(nicked wires...) causing the problem.
boatfixer
Does it sit in a marina with other boats or by itself at your dock? Also are you using any type of ship to shore or other battery charger?
MN Mike
There are usually 2 boats near by, ones a good sized fiberglass sailing boat and the other is a bigger aluminum Crestliner Nordic or Sabre, something along those lines. My boat does have a onboard battery charger but it is not used since there are no power outlets on or near the docks.I do have a master shut off switch for the batteries and I use that all the time, which leaves the bail pump the only item with constant power.Mike
