Small Outboard Questions?

I have a 6hp Evinrude outboard that has run like a champ for well it's whole life. Now I am starting to experience a few problems. It will run perfectly under half throttle and I can run it for 2-3 minutes over half but then it sounds like it will bog down and then pick back up and then bog down. When I stop and idle along for a minute or so it will be able to go above half throttle. Could this be a carb problem or what?

It could be a couple things but start with the simple one first.....

Check to make sure the fuel system isn't building vacuum. Make sure the tank vent is open. Make sure the primer bulb is staying firm. If the problem occurs try squeezing the primer bulb to see if it temporarily fixes it.

Dirty fuel filter

Sticky check valve in the primer bulb

Failing fuel pump

Air leak in gas line

Small peice of crud moving around in the float bowl blocking the main jet intermitantly

Squeezing the primer bulb with no change will eliminate the fuel pump.

If you have another line or know someone who does, try swapping it out or just replace the line, bulb and filter anyway.
